Bed (Summer Losses)
Bed (Summer Losses) is one of the works in the Bed series, which explores the problem of image and representation. It poses a question to the audience: Does the sculpture leaning against the wall resemble a bed? The answer lingers between affirmation and denial. Or perhaps it looks more like a portal. But a bed is always like a portal, a threshold that mediates between reality and dreams.
The colour of the LED light projected on the wall evokes the hues of the sky during the summer evenings, a blend of light violet and pink. Evening is the most beautiful moment of the day, but this beauty is also ephemeral. It is akin to the feeling we get from our dreams, all those images fade away as we wake up, only the feeling of loss remains.
