Bed (Through the Winter Light)
Bed (Through the Winter Light) is one of the works in the Bed series. It continues the exploration of the problem of image and representation: Does the sculpture leaning against the wall resemble a bed? The answer hovers between affirmation and denial. Meanwhile, the position of ‘leaning against’ may suggest a sense of waiting: waiting for a person, a moment, or perhaps waiting for nothing.
The faint light crosses the frosted acrylic sheet, like sunlight filters through clouds and casts itself on the cold ground, leaving a precious beam of light in those gloomy winter days. This work explores the poetics of light in our everyday life, and the symbol of eternity it holds in literature and art. The white felt covering the panels is reminiscent of the ground covered by snow.
