Fading describes a state where something gradually fades away. The gradually diminishing orange light in the work, along with the form resembling a human body slowly constructed from wooden blocks, both point to a sense of vagueness and the disappearance of boundaries.

The inspiration for the form of this work comes from Hans Josephsohn’s human sculptures, especially his later works, where, after blurring the specific shapes of organs, the body seems to transform into a kind of pure material. In the process of making Fading, while building the body by a piece and a piece wooden blocks, I felt that the distance between myself and ‘existence’ was so close. This work ultimately hovers in a state between body and object. In this blur, the body seems to be a substance that is gradually fading away…
